So, I did this illustration for Puma / Rudolf Dassler a couple of weeks back and we got to pick out a pair of shoes and a t-shirt from the new collection. I got these shoes and this t-shirt. Can you see how much the t-shirt was, yep that's right R899....for real! I could buy soooo much with that. Never the less, I got some fancy free shit and that's all that matters. I think the shoes were R1000 or something. Sjoe.
I came across this today and it's so sad and beautiful. It's about 12 minutes long, but well worth it. The animation is nicely textured and smooth in motion. The story is about a man called Henry who gets hit by a meteorite and is removed 91cm from himself. A real treat to watch. Find out more about Jeremy Clapin and the animation, here.
Sjoe, been almost a week since I blogged, I've been...what have I been doing? Playing lots of guitar, getting ready to move house, hanging out with my brother and making new felt badges! Tonight I play my first solo show at the Waiting Room, I'm very nervous. I may have to "sluk" some rescue remedy. I'm also selling my crafts this Saturday at the Labia on Orange. Should be a fun day, I may busk too...we'll see!
Yay! My Skinnylaminx cushions arrived yesterday, hand delivered by Thaya! I love them so! I may have to get some more this Saturday at the Open Studio.
Thaya from Beatnik Bazaar tagged me this morning in her post on morning tea rituals. Unfortunately I drink my tea in the morning from a cheap white mug from Mr Price (left) Since this is boring and depressing to look at, I made a little tea party for myself (right) on my Skinnylaminx tea towel and made use of the tea cosy that I knitted! Oh..and what's that in the background?
This is such an inspirational video! I love stop motion and the time and effort that has been put into this is incredible! The video loops, so once you see the guys with the wood again, you can stop watching....or watch it again!
I've done another poster for The Frown Family Karavan but this time, I'm part of the show. Honestly I'm frightened and have only played in front of people twice. Once at an open mic and another time, very drunkenly at a friend's birthday party. Anyway, was fun to illustrate the poster, as usual. You can check it out on facebook here.
I'll be singing back up at the Kunskafee in Durbanville with Righard Kapp tonight at 9. 2 Scher Str, Durbanville Drop by if you're in the area, cover is R30.
This Friday, 13th November, is "Tree" at Blossom in Kalk Bay where you'll find beautiful handmade crafts for Christmas which is just around the corner!
Also, this Saturday,14th November, I'll be selling my crafts, art, gift cards etc. at the Huppelland market day, along with Flick Glass, Skermunkil and Broekies to name a few.
This is some of the most impressive work I've seen in a while. The production is slick, beautiful, honest and emotive. Featuring close ups of Faith47 painting to the haunting voice of Inge Beckmann's song, Epitaph. The use of slow motion gives the video a somewhat dreamlike filter and captures the viewers attention throughout. 5 stars. Vote here.
"epitaph is an exploration of lost spaces entered through sounds and images to reveal the echoes of empty rooms, flakes of paint, swollen curves, fragile lines, stories hidden in the flat colors broken apart by wood and steel… rowan pybus, faith47 and inge beckmann worked closely together to produce this short video piece… this is the third in a series of videos that faith47 and rowan pybus have been working on." I saw this on my way to work this morning and recognised the unmistakable style of Dale Halvorsen. The poster is for a band called Coal, an all female band which is hard to come by in S.A
They're playing at the Waiting Room in Long St on Monday the 9th of November. Check out Coal here. And view more of Dale's awesome work here.
Gene Kierman's new blog, talking about music, creativity, not-words, burping, alcohol binging all in a twisted, poetic way. Check out Pollen Grains here.
